The New Singer

Six months without sewing was too long. After doing a bit of searching online for used machines... I ended up just buying the least expensive Singer model I could find at Carrefour. Nothing fancy but I think she'll get the job done.

My floor is currently littered with fabric bits and I love it.

Not-a-Vase Vases

I finally broke down and bought some flowers today. Flowers are definitely a luxury item in the UAE. I won't tell you what I spent on this small bouquet.

Of course, I didn't have a vase... but I did have an extra coffee pot. Sometimes the best vases are not vases at all.

I can't see squirrels and not think of Taune.

A few weeks ago she thoughtfully sent me a little gift of embroidery floss. Only days before that Badbird released her January embroidery pattern... squirrels! How could I not stitch it up and send it Taune's way?

Tokens On a String

Way back in October-ish I embarked on the great token project. The plan was to craft a little felt token for each day spent living abroad. Well... I haven't exactly kept up. (It's a lot of days, ok!?)

I did, however, finally string up the majority of the tokens I had made. I placed the garland over my bed and... I think I like it. Adds a bit of a carnival atmosphere?

Oh Vagina Cake

By far the most viewed photo in my flickr stream is of vagina cakes from International Women's Day back in... '07? It will even come up if you google "vagina cake" which I know you all do from time to time.

Yesterday Cakehead Loves Evil picked it up too. Oh, funny!
